St.john Creeper plant
odranea ricasoliana, commonly known as Pink Trumpet Vine or Port St. John's Creeper, is a vigorous climbing vine in the family Bignoniaceae. It is native to South Africa but has been widely cultivated and naturalized in many other parts of the world with suitable climates.
Pink Trumpet Vine is appreciated for its abundant display of trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of pink, ranging from pale pink to deeper rose pink. The flowers are borne in clusters and have a delightful fragrance, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. The vine produces flowers during the warmer months, typically in spring and summer, but it may continue to bloom sporadically throughout the year in favorable conditions.
The foliage of Podranea ricasoliana is composed of pinnate compound leaves, with each leaflet being oval or lance-shaped and glossy green in color. The vine has a twining growth habit and can reach substantial heights, often climbing up trellises, fences, or other supports.
Pink Trumpet Vine is adaptable to various soil types but prefers well-drained soil. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and can tolerate both drought and moderate frost once established. Regular pruning may be necessary to control its growth and maintain its shape.
